I survived my first Cub Scout hike. My six year old began his first year as a Tiger Cub Scout just a few weeks ago and this was our first big event with the pack. We got up early on this past Sunday, dressed, packed our snacks and headed to meet up with the other scouts. After reviewing how a compass works and some mindless wandering through the woods, the dads finally listened to the moms and we found the trailhead. It was a perfect day for a hike. The sun was shining, but the trees provided enough shade to keep it comfortably cool. The kids had a great time searching for the trail markers and well-camouflaged animals. We crawled under downed trees, passed through creeks and managed to find our way out. By the end of the trek, I was so glad I wore my new adidas Kanadia Trail shoes. Not only are they super cute with the hot pink accent, but the adiPrene technology made them very comfortable and the traxion outsole kept me from falling on my butt. Now I just have to rest up for the next hike.
